Daylight Saving Time Begins-March 8th

Get ready to “spring forward” this weekend!

Daylight saving time is right around the corner, which means we’ll be moving our clocks ahead by an hour and gaining a little extra daylight in the evenings.

·        This long‑standing practice, in place for over a century, helps make better use of natural daylight.

·        Start date for 2026: Daylight saving time begins Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 a.m. local time, when clocks jump forward to 3:00 a.m.

·        The season runs through November 1.

·        😴 While the change means losing an hour of sleep, it also signals the arrival of longer, brighter days.

⏰ Tips for Adjusting Your Clocks and Routine

·        Update manual clocks—like wall clocks, ovens, microwaves, and older car displays—before going to bed Saturday night.

·        Double‑check devices that update automatically; most phones and computers handle it, but it’s worth confirming your settings.

·        Ease into the change by going to bed 10–15 minutes earlier for a few days leading up to the time shift.

·        Prep for a smoother Sunday morning by getting breakfast items ready or planning a slower start.

·        Take advantage of the extra evening daylight with outdoor activities or a refreshed routine.

Payroll Reminder for the Start of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, March 8

As we “spring forward” this weekend when clocks jump ahead at 2:00 am, please be aware of how this time change affects payroll for anyone scheduled during that hour. If your shift is scheduled to cover 2:00 am, the system will reflect one fewer hour worked because the clock advances at that time. As a result, employees scheduled through that period will be paid for seven hours instead of the usual eight.

I hope the transition is an easy one—have a great weekend!
